Angie Martinez & Miss Info Talk JAY-Z’s ’4:44′, Vegan Diets On ‘In Real Life’ Ep. 3
Angie Martinez channels Fix My Life queen Iyanla Vanzant for the latest installment of her and Miss Info’s In Real Life podcast. In Episode 3, the real-life BFFs dissect JAY-Z’s thirteenth studio album 4:44, going vegan and facing adversity.
Following 50 Cent’s hot take about Hov’s project (he described it as “golf course music” in a now-deleted Instagram post), Angie and Info dove into the revelations JAY-Z shares on the album about his marriage and where the two New York rappers are in their lives at present. “It felt like he was just tryna get shit off his chest,” said Miss Info about JAY-Z while Angie offered, “It’s an emotionally evolved type of album where Fif, evolved as he is in many ways, I don’t think he’s had that in his life. I don’t think he’s gotten to that point in his life.”
The conversation then veered into Angie taking on a plant-based diet. As she munched on her black bean, sweet potato and guacamole burger with fries, Info reflected on attending esteemed hip-hop producer Jay “Icepick” Jackson’s funeral, where Swizz Beatz (who worked with Jackson during the Ruff Ryders regime) proudly embraced his vegan lifestyle at the memorial because Jackson had been vocal about men taking charge of their health before his passing.
Info also gets personal when she seeks advice from Angie about responding to life’s challenges. “You’re like that rare person that when life gets harder, you stand up and say, ‘Let’s go!’,” said Info. “But I’m all like let’s lay down and hope it passes.” Angie then drops some gems that are better heard than read.
Elsewhere on the podcast, the duo dip into the Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian debacle, the state of Kanye West and pose these thought-provoking questions:
“Do you own your shit before you get caught?”
“Is Kanye in a sunken place?”
“At what point does your large and powerful family intervene?”
“Would you cut him off financially?”
“Do you try to get custody of his child?”
