Eric Idle: My George Harrison Favorites

Eric Idle: My George Harrison Favorites

Famously known as “the Quiet Beatle,” George Harrison was anything but silent in his brilliant music career.

To mark the proud addition of his full solo discography to the TIDAL servers, longtime friend and Monty Python alum Eric Idle curated this exclusive playlist of his Harrison favorites.

Introducing his playlist, Idle says:

I met [George] at the end of the screening of the Holy Grail at the Directors Guild in Hollywood. Terry Gilliam and I were there. He suddenly showed up at the end and was like, “Oh yeah, I’m George.” I really loved that. “Do you want to go have some reefer?” We went from there for like two or three days I think.

George put in five million dollars of his own money to get Life of Brian made. It wouldn’t have been made without him. The Python’s were like, “Why, George, five million?” He said, “I just wanted to see it.” Here’s your ticket. He mortgaged his house, actually, to raise the money for Life of Brian. It’s fairly insane for anyone to do.
