The Man Who Fell To Earth

Over the course of David Bowie’s 50+ year music career — not even mentioning his many other courtings in art, film and fashion — the British icon continually shape-shifted to become one of the most pioneering and influential artists of his time.

He’s had various peaks in creativity and popularity, but he never stopped his perpetual evolution — from pop singer to alien from Mars, slim cabaret man, art rocker, new wave chartbuster, electro enthusiast and far beyond — incessantly innovating his sound with the same rapid pace that he reinvented his outer appearance and stage persona. Just over a year ago, on his 69th birthday, David Bowie released his stunning 25th studio album, Blackstar, marking an exciting new venture into jazz impressionism.

Unfortunately, as we all well know, Bowie passed away two days later, following a private 18-month battle with cancer. In honor of his transcendent cultural contributions, we’ve compiled a collection of some of our favorite tracks from his incredible career. While no clean lines could contain his amorphous genius, we hope it serves as an introduction to his remarkable legacy.

Ed Sheeran is Back

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has been a global sensation for some time now. Following five independently released EPs, Sheeran made his breakthrough with 2011′s star-making +, a hit record that featured the singles “The A Team,” “You Don’t Need Me, I Don’t Need You,” and “Lego House.”

Since then, the red-headed icon’s work has become all but synonymous with mainstream success as further evidenced by 2014′s x, his follow-up sophomore smash that would ultimately peak at number one in 15 countries.

With his third full-length to date, ÷, set for release in early 2017, you’ll want to tune in to this playlist, featuring some of the young pop star’s best work thus far, including his brand new singles “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill.”
