Star Trak Entertainment
“As an A&R for The Neptunes’ record label, STAR TRAK, I got to witness and be a part of some of the most amazing music ever made. Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo had the game on Warp Speed!!! Featuring Usher, Clipse, Nelly, N.E.R.D., Snoop, LL Cool J, and many other greats, these are some of the hits from those days. All the heat you need with those classic Pharrell drums and Chad synthesizers we all love.” — Cipha Sounds
The Best of Kings of Leon
Leaning heavily on their Dixie roots, Nashville rock band Kings of Leon broke out as the Southern answer to the rock revival of the noughties. But despite sharing the scruffiness and ’70s throwback looks of The Strokes, The Von Bondies, The White Stripes and The Walkmen, KOL’s sound was less focused on post-punk and garage, and more of a nostalgia trip down blues and boogie rock lane. Six albums later they’re still rocking. Following up 2013′s Mechanical Bull and their 2016 single “Waste A Moment,” Kings of Leon’s seventh full-length, We Are Like Love Songs (or WALLS) is set to drop this Friday.
Africa’s Biggest DJ
DJ Spinall is an award-winning, globally recognized artist from Nigeria. First getting his start back in 2003, Spinall has already managed to make a name for himself all around the world for his confident ability to mix all genres into any playlist. Pushing an eclectic mix of Afropop, hip-hop, R&B and electronic music, the aptly named DJ made his full-length debut in 2015 with My Story, which he just followed up with his brand new album, TEN, featuring such African stars as Davido, Sarkodie, Iceprince, Patoranking, Falz, Sauti Sol, Mr Eazi, Niniola and many more. In light of this release, DJ Spinall shared this exclusive, annotated playlist featuring some of his favorite tracks.
It’s far from uncommon for country, folk and bluegrass acts to dips their toes into unknown waters, enjoying a good cover song or two – and some even build their entire career out of stringing up popular hits. Here are some really great attempts in the art of cover songs, featuring acoustic strummers like Dwight Yoakam, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Allison Krauss and Punch Brothers taking on well-known tunes by Prince, Pixies, Taylor Swift, The White Stripes and many more.
