Guest Lists

We’ve had an outstanding influx of exclusive gust playlist in the last week.

Be certain not to miss JAY Z‘s latest personally curated playlist Brick Phone, featuring timeless gems from hip-hop’s golden era, and Solange’s Sonic Inspirations, a collection of tracks that inspired the writing process for her new record (and our Album of the Week) A Seat at the Table.

Also out with new releases are Seun Kuti (son of afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti), who crafted this brilliant Baddass Afrobeats Playlist, and beloved singer-songwriter Regina Spektor, who shared this timely Political Thinking (Please Vote!) playlist and this list of songs that have played in the soundtrack to her life.

New Voices In Pop

Pop music is an arena dominated by the biggest stars on the planet, but outside of the central spotlight there’s a vast pool of young talents poised to become to next big thing. They may not all make it to the main stage, but this playlist of promising new artists represents pop’s bright future. You can of course always check out what’s new and hot on the charts today with our playlist What’s Up.

Featuring Danny Brown

Rapper Danny Brown is known for his amplified individuality. Since dropping his 2010 album debut, The Hybrid, which immediately earned the Detroit MC a reputation for seamlessly merging hood and hipster culture with high octane energy and wicked wit, the 35-year-old artist has continued to garner increasingly positive acclaim for subsequent releases XXX (2011), Old (2013) and Atrocity Exhibition (2016) the last of which was dropped just last week.

In between his own projects, Danny Brown has appeared on an eclectic mix of guest spots for the likes of A$AP Rocky, The Avalanches, Vampire Weekend and many more. We’ve sorted through this growing list and picked out a few of our favorite Danny Brown guest verses.

Get Down On It

Get down and dirty with some of the finest soul, funk and four-to-the floor disco out there. Bound to get the blood pumping, this playlist boasts more hits than a boxing match, more hooks than a tackle box and marks the perfect prescription both for champagne days and boogie nights and alike. Whether you feel like being a sex machine or simply wish to dance to the music, rock your body, dig it and don’t stop ’til you get enough!

Kings of Darkness

Hardly any musical genre competes with the early Norwegian black metal scene when it comes to originality, attention and worldwide recognition, hailed for some of the most acclaimed and influential artists in extreme metal. Today, this phenomenon is well established in mainstream circles, but in its infancy black metal was synonymous with church burnings, murder and plain evil. This is a playlist of some of the early days innovators, including Mayhem, Enslaved, Emperor and others. Some of these bands are today considered mostly as curiosities, others are well-established metal gods. Common for them all is that they contributed in the foundation for a success story unparalleled in the history of metal.
