McKinley Dixon Premieres “Circle the Block” Music Video
Today, TIDAL is premiering the music video for “Circle the Block,” the first single off of Rising artist McKinley Dixon’s next album, The Importance of Self Belief (out in April).
The single is lifted by its live instrumentation and guiding, grooving bassline. Meanwhile, Dixon doesn’t waste a word. His tightly wound chorus determines his suspicions that “every cop light is for me until it pass.” His scrambling, layered lyrical patterns dictate a list of instructions for avoiding fatal confrontation, or perhaps it’s a cautionary tale.
The video, directed by Mitchell Craft, projects as much lightness into the song as allowed by the lyrical content. The video eventually collapses into blistering screams as the video encapsulates a breakdown.
Stay tuned for more visuals from our Rising Artist of the Week on Thursday.
