Pregame For NBA All-Star Weekend with Kamaiyah’s Ball Out Playlist
NBA All-Star Weekend has officially landed in Los Angeles. To celebrate the hoop festivities out West, Oakland’s own Kamaiyah shared a playlist of the tracks currently on her rotation. The breezy soundtrack follows her recent cameo in Sprite’s latest “Big Taste Cuts Through” campaign spot alongside Cleveland Cavaliers powerhouse LeBron James. Catch the duo’s TV commercial at www.sprite.com and ride out to Kamaiyah’s Ball Out playlist below.
1. YG Feat. Drake & Kamaiyah “Why You Always Hatin?”
I was a new artist on a song with YG and Drake. That’s enough motivation to keep going right there. What a lot of people didn’t know is that YG and I swapped songs. He took this for his album, and I took “F-ck It Up” for A Good Night In The Ghetto. A lot of people didn’t recognize me or give me credit for the hook because my voice was different from what they are used to but it fit perfectly to the theme, “Why You Always Hatin’?”
2. Jim Jones “We Fly High (Ballin’)”
Me and my friends used to listen to this song and joke about being young, getting rich, driving exotic cars, and having fun. Look at us now.
3. Big Tymers “Get Your Roll On”
Cash Money was an iconic hip-hop group. Growing up, I watched how they heavily influenced the culture. From their songs to the outfits to the videos. They were fly as hell, hood motivation.
4. SOB x RBE “Anti”
I have to support other upcoming Bay artists, we are part of the same family. “Anti” is one of those uptempo songs with high energy (it’s a real Oakland song) that keeps me going ’til the end during my workouts.
5. Missy Elliot “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)”
Missy had a heavy influence on me. She’s one of my Top 5 artists. Her sound, style, and creativity is unmatched. I remember watching this video with her driving the open jeep in the black sweat suit like, this lady hella clean wtf. The video alone is a classic, I want videos with that level of creativity to come back.
6. Lil Wayne “500 Degreez”
This is classic Wayne, if you don’t know all the lyrics you’re not a Wayne fan.
7. 2Pac “Toss It Up”
My list ain’t complete without a Tupac song. Westside.
8. Future “Mask Off”
Future’s work ethic is unmatched, and I’m here for it. “Mask Off” is one of those records I hear when I need some energy, it’s just fun.
9. Travis Scott “Way Back”
Birds In The Trap is a solid project that I can play all the way through. In this industry, it’s a lot of people smiling in your face. I keep it real and I have a big heart, I just want people around me who do the same. No fake sh*t.
10. MC Hammer “Pumps and A Bump”
I have an old soul. My friends call me a black grandma lol. I probably listen to more old school music than new school. You’ll definitely catch me bumping this in my coupe on the freeway.
11. G-Eazy Feat. Cardi B & A$AP Rocky “No Limit”
“Got the city on fire, b*tch lying on me like she tired. I might have to f*ck around and call Kamaiyah.”
12. TLC “What About Your Friends”
Not only is T-Boz my big cousin, TLC is my favorite girl group. I used to have posters of them on my walls. Sh*t, I still have this clean ass painting of them in my living room. They always represented something different to me.
