Introducing: Now Playing

Introducing: Now Playing

Before they were today’s hitmakers and Grammy winners, your favorite artists were first and foremost music lovers just like you. To celebrate the end of 2019, TIDAL has launched an exclusive new playlist series called Now Playing — connecting your expansive tastes to wide-ranging track picks by today’s greatest musicians.

A collection of 500-plus playlists, Now Playing features curation by artists including Alicia Keys, Jonas Brothers, the Black Keys, the Chainsmokers, Lady Antebellum, Mandy Moore, Mariah Carey, Ty Dolla $ign, 2 Chainz and The Weeknd as well as rising artists like Emotional Oranges, Kash Doll, Girl Ultra and Lewis Capaldi.

Showcasing TIDAL’s devotion to artist engagement, Now Playing offers a couple of ways to gain insight into your favorite artists’ listening preferences, and a TIDAL membership unlocks the premier level of discovery. Algorithms will match your listening habits to those of Now Playing’s gamut of artists — just check the “Now Playing” tab on the Home page, which will send you to new and different artists’ playlists as your personal listening evolves.

But TIDAL members and non-members alike can dig into the vast library of playlists, uncovering a level of intimacy that so many previous guest playlists haven’t delivered. To give but two examples: Alicia Keys is currently listening to classic R&B, unsurprisingly, but she also has a soft spot for the holiday jazz of Vince Guaraldi. New Orleans pianist — and Colbert music director — Jon Batiste places jazz legends alongside the proto-punk of Suicide and the iconic early hip-hop single “Beat Bop,” on a playlist inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Experienced via either path, the results of Now Playing will surprise you, and prove how today’s top artists — like today’s most dedicated music fans — have little use for the boundaries of genre.
