TIDAL Gets Dischord — And You Get This New EFFECTS Song

TIDAL is proud to welcome iconic D.C. label Dischord Records into the fold, and, to celebrate, we have an exclusive premiere from one of their newest bands, the EFFECTS.

The EFFECTS is the brainchild of Dischord vet Devin Ocampo (Faraquet, Medications, Smart Went Crazy, Deathfix, etc.), Matthew Dowling and David Rich, and we have their chiming new single, “Anchors Aweigh,” right here for your listening pleasure. The song comes off of Eyes to the Light, out September 29.

“‘Anchors Aweigh,’ to me, is a song about giving up on people and their perspective because there is no more to be said,” Ocampo tells TIDAL. “There’s no convincing them that their viewpoint is flawed. I suppose it’s about politics on some level, but it could be interpreted as any disagreement, really. I started with the image of this person lost at sea and needing to be saved as a metaphor for a closed mind and when all efforts fail, the response is simply good riddance… ‘Anchors Aweigh.’”
