TIDAL Rising Artist Of The Week: Meet R&B Trapper Dalex
Hailing from La Isla del Encanto of Puerto Rico by way of Philadelphia, Dalex first arrived to the music scene as one-half of Jayma & Dalex back in 2014. After going solo, Dalex married his velvet-smooth R&B with hard-knock reggaetón on a number of consecutive EPs throughout 2018.
To cap off his year of grind, the burgeoning twentysomething – and TIDAL Rising Artist of the Week – released La Nueva Ola on Oct. 4, which perhaps best embodies his silvery approach to Latin trap. With bouncy slow jams like “Vuelva a Ver” and the down-tempo sentimentality of “Por Ti,” Dalex hones in on what sets him apart from contemporaries—his irresistible, melodic flow.
Moving closer than ever toward seductive pop, Dalex sits down with TIDAL to talk growing up Puerto Rican, greatest influences and all things music. Expect a brief Q&A this Friday. Until then, enjoy his best work so far:
