TIDAL Rising: Justin Quiles

TIDAL Rising: Justin Quiles

Often referred to simply as “The Promise,” Justin Quiles is a fast rising Latin Pop star star with a sharp pen, a blessed voice and charisma for miles.

Raised in Florida with Puerto Rican roots, Quiles is quickly becoming a household name thanks to hits like “Maria,” “Me Curare” and “Orgullo” (J Balvin Remix). In addition to composing his own songs, he’s also written for peers like Yandel, J Balvin, Nacho, Maluma, J Alvarez and Andy Rivera, among others.

After much buildup, Justin Quiles’ new full-length effort, La Promesa, was released last month and currently sits at the number two spot on the Billboard Latin Album Chart.

We got to know the Rising artist a little better.

Who is Justin Quiles? Can you introduce yourself?

Justin Quiles is a passionate person in every sense of the word; when it comes to music, family and life situations I always give my 100%. Helping others is something that fills me up completely and has always been a part of me, I would say these are some of the qualities that describe me.

When and how did you start making music?

I started making music at an early age , I was only 13 when I wrote my first song. It all started when I saw my brother and my cousin Manuel Alberto involved in the ” freestyle ” world, this was something that quickly caught my attention and from then on I fell in love music altogether.

Who were your musical heroes growing up?

Honestly, I do not have heroes as such, but I do have people that I admire and greatly respect for their history and their music. People like Vico C, Daddy Yankee, Big Pun, Biggie, among other artists were people that motivated me, people who come from nothing just like me, and if they succeeded I knew that any given time could succeed as well.

Name an album, artist or experience that changed your perspective on music?

Something that marked my life and completely changed my outlook on music, was when the Mexican artist Selena was murdered, that was something that impacted the entire Latino community worldwide and something that made me think a lot about music

Recommend another rising artist you believe in.

There are many talented artists but the one that for me stands up in the urban genre is Carlitos Rossy for his lyrics, songs, and distinctive voice.

What’s next for Justin Quiles?

What’s next for Justin Quiles would be to reach the unreachable, and to surpass everyone’s expectations. To make sure the entire world knows who Justin Quiles is and for my legacy make a mark forever.

Looking one year ahead, what was the best thing that happened to you?

The best thing that happened to me in life is the gift of being able to write and express myself as an artist through my songs. I think that it’s something that you can not buy, is priceless and for that, I thank God infinitely.

And finally, if your music was an object what type would it be? Please describe.

If I was to compare my music to an object it would be a Bugatti, because of how fast I am able to compose, my grace when I sing, and style when I move.
