Name: Lillie Mae
Based In: Nashville, TN
Sounds Like: Versatile Americana

Lillie Mae has been writing, recording and performing music since she was just a child. The Nashville-based triple threat (singer/fiddler/songwriter) was a member of Jack White’s touring band before embarking on her own solo career back in 2014. She’s since crafted her own unique sound over the years, seamlessly blending Americana with elements of folk, country and blues. In preparation for her studio debut, Lillie Mae has released a handful of tracks in 2017 thus far. Singles “Wash Me Clean,” “Honky Tonks and Taverns” and “Over The Hill and Through the Woods” will all be featured on her forthcoming “FOREVER AND THEN SOME” debut. Produced by Jack White, the album is set for release on April 14 via White’s own Third Man Records.

Name: Ama Lou
Based In: London, UK
Sounds Like: Personally Charged Pop

18-year-old Ama Lou has been turning heads lately with her deeply personal and politically charged pop and R&B. The London-based rising artist’s melancholic tunes often prove vocal-heavy despite being fairly minimalistic on the whole. Her newest single, “Lost My Home,” is a deeply personal and sonically characteristic ballad about Lou’s experience couchsurfing in NYC for a period of her life. You’ll want to be on the lookout for more from Ama Lou as we’re confident she’s a talent primed to break into the mainstream in 2017.

Name: Amber Mark
Based In: New York, NY
Sounds Like: Tribal Alternative Soul

Singer-songwriter Amber Mark was little more than another name on the scene until just about a year ago. But Mark broke through with “Space,” a brooding yet catchy tune that first managed to catch the attention of DJ Zane Lowe and then, subsequently, win the attention of listeners from all around the world. Capitalizing on this interest, Mark’s released singles singles “Way Back,” “Monsoon” and “Lose My Cool” over the last year, incorporating elements of soul, R&B, funk and folk into her alluring work. Be on the lookout for Amber Mark’s forthcoming debut album, 3:33am, set for release on May 12 via Insomniac/Interscope Records.

Name: Dude York
Based In: Seattle, WA
Sounds Like: Indie Power Pop

The Seattle-based trio known as Dude York has been compared to some of the best bands to ever rock the stage including The Beatles, Van Halen and even Queen. Dude York released their debut album, Dehumanize, in 2014, signing to Hardly Art Records shortly thereafter. In a recent press release on their new album, one titled Sincerely, guitarist and vocalist Peter Richards explains that the record “is about losing and then regaining one’s inner perspective on life.” Currently on the final leg of their US Tour, Dude York is a band you’ll want to look out for.

Name: Balto
Based In: Portland, OR
Sounds Like: Roots Rock Revival

Balto is a rootsy rock band based out of Portland, OR, that includes members Daniel Sheron, Seth Mower, Luck Beckel and Devon Hoffner. The band is sonically reminiscent of a simpler time in music, drawing heavily from the legacy of ‘60s and ‘70s Rock ‘n’ Roll. Balto recently recorded Strangers, their new full-length album, in a farmhouse studio after returning from a tour of Alaska’s interior, allowing the band to become fully immersed in their music. Strangers feels both organic and delightful from the opening track “Lost of The Young” to the closing ballad that is “One Night Show.” If you’re a roots rock revival fan, Balto is a band well worth hearing.
