Name: Mr. Paradise
Based In: New Jersey, USA
Sounds Like: Soulful, Urban Latin
Angel Batista, better known by his Mr. Paradise performance moniker, is one of Roc Nation Latin’s most exciting new talents on the rise. Born in Villa Duarte, Dominican Republic, Barista moved to Madrid, Spain at the age of two. Batista grew up attending a culturally diverse boarding school and has since used his unique perspective as a source of inspiration for his music. One to stand up for the little guy, Batista is avidly against discrimination of any kind, a subject that happens to be the catalyst behind his powerful new “Forastero” single. We’re confident that Mr. Paradise has crafted a sound with the ability to conquer hearts and minds all around the world, regardless of musical preference or heritage.
Name: Olivia O’Brien
Based In: Napa, CA
Sounds Like: Catchy, Emotional Pop
17-year-old sensation Olivia O’Brien is one of the fastest rising singer-songwriters around. First teaching herself to play piano and guitar at the age of 7, O’Brien is perhaps best known today for her Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit “I Hate U, I Love U,” a collaboration with fellow up-and-comer Gnash. Although she’s only been active in the industry for just over a year now, O’Brien has put out a string of successful singles including “Trust Issues,” “Find What You’re Looking For” and “Root Beer Float” featuring Blackbear. We are looking forward to a full project from Olivia O’Brien in the near future, but, in the meantime, be sure to check out her brand new single “Empty.”
Based In: Atlanta, GA
Sounds Like: Lyrical Hip-Hop
Meet J.I.D, the newest Dreamville Records signee and an ambitious artist working hard to rewire the way people see both Atlanta hip-hop and the upcoming generation of new rappers as a whole. The 25 year-old MC from East Atlanta grew up freestyling and released his Dicaprio EP in 2016, linking up with the up-and-coming hip-hop collective Spillage Village to release Bears Like This Too Much in 2016. Be sure to check out J.I.D’s new “NEVER” single, a dark yet catchy ballad about his past. We can’t wait to hear J.I.D’s first official project on Dreamville Records, The Never Story, which is due out this Friday.
Name: Jay Som
Based In: San Francisco, CA
Sounds Like: Dreamy Indie-Pop
Emerging indie artist Melina Duterte, AKA Jay Som, has managed to impress critics with her every release to date. After originally planning to pursue a conservatory program for jazz, Duterte decided to enroll in community college, studying studio technology, songwriting and music production instead. It was around this time that she began writing and recording demos in her bedroom studio, subsequently releasing them on Bandcamp under her Jay Som moniker in 2015. The original 9 track EP has since been re-released twice to rave reviews. Her newest single, “Baybee,” was released on TIDAL just last month and more than lives up to the hype. Be sure to look out for Everybody Works, her Polyvinyl Records debut set for release this coming Friday.
TIDAL is proud to announce the world's first music service with High Fidelity sound quality, High Definition music videos and expertly curated Editorial.
