The latest TIDAL X event is part of Diaspora Calling!, a three-day series of music and art experiences taking place at Brooklyn’s beautiful and historic Kings Theatre.
Now through Friday, April 15, Ms. Lauryn Hill will present a series of events, focusing on various forms of visual art, featuring performances by artists from Africa, and throughout the African diaspora. The grand lobby of the King’s Theatre will be transformed into an art gallery, featuring some of the most innovative and iconic contemporary artists of the African diaspora, with a special focus on art and artists from Haiti.
Of the event, Ms. Hill says, “Diaspora Calling! is a collection of works intended to celebrate the rich tapestry of artists from the African Diaspora while also illumining persistent and irrepressible themes… Even if we work independently, we are a resounding collective voice, both reconciling and embracing our relationship to history, our origins, our future and to ourselves.”
