Walrus Gears up for a ‘Family Hangover’

TIDAL is happy to premiere the music video for “Family Hangover” off of the eponymous album from the TIDAL Rising Canadian indie rock band, Walrus. In the video, a family of aliens celebrate the birthday of their eldest relative in a fashion familiar to those who inhabit Earth: with a tad of debauchery, a little more booze and a monster of a hangover.

The surrealist styling of the video is jarring, but oddly complementary to the cooing, placid music that ultimately spins out of control.

Below are quotes about the production of the video from the band and directors:

Justin Murphy (guitar, vocals): “This was the first time we ever had no hands in the cookie jar working with a video, we didn’t really have any idea of how it was going to work out and had never even met the people that made it, but it couldn’t have come out any cooler. Almost reminds me of the Black Hole Sun video, I remember being really freaked out by Barbie on the barbecue when I was a kid, this one kinda freaks me out too.”

Luke McCutcheon & Michael Yablonski (directors): ”Production was a nightmare – those beers were for the wrap party.”

Walrus will release a digital split with Ontario’s WHOOP-Szo on November 3rd, and they have a handful of tour dates coming up below:
